Coragyps

Coragyps is the genus of New World vultures containing the living black vulture and several extinct Pleistocene species from North America. These carnivorous scavengers fed on large megafaunal carcasses and are well documented in the Rancho La Brea tar pits of California. The genus provides evidence of Pleistocene North American vulture diversity and megafaunal ecology.
