Anchiornis is one of the best-preserved feathered dinosaurs, with its entire plumage pattern reconstructed from fossil melanosomes. It had black and white striped wings and a reddish crest. It bridges the gap between non-avian dinosaurs and birds.
Physical Description
| Measurement | Value | Human Scale |
|---|---|---|
| Chiều dài | 0.4 m | smaller than a human child |
| Height | 0.2 m | — |
| Cân nặng | 0 kg | lighter than a human adult |
Diet & Feeding
Anchiornis primarily fed on insects and other small invertebrates. Insectivorous dinosaurs were typically small-bodied and agile, with adaptations suited for catching small prey.
Time Period
Anchiornis lived during the Jurassic Late period of the Mesozoic Era, approximately 161,5 to 145,0 million years ago.
One of the most iconic periods for dinosaurs. Giant sauropods like Brachiosaurus and Diplodocus roamed alongside predators like Allosaurus. Archaeopteryx, the earliest known bird, appeared. The Morrison Formation preserves an extraordinary fossil record from this time.
