† Gallirallus owstoni — the Guam rail, a flightless rail from Guam, Micronesia. Small omnivore; extirpated from the wild by the brown tree snake in the 1980s but survives in captive breeding. Now reintroduced to Rota Island. Possibly oldest known Gallirallus with an active recovery program.

Gallirallus owstoni was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
