†Aramus paludigrus was an extinct Limpkin relative from Miocene or Pliocene Colombia, South America. A freshwater carnivore-omnivore feeding on molluscs, it inhabited tropical wetlands and swamps. Its South American fossil record helps trace the historical distribution and evolutionary history of the Limpkin lineage across the Americas before its current restricted range.
