Subfossil material of the greater vasa parrot Coracopsis vasa from Madagascar provides a temporal record extending this endemic Malagasy parrot back through the late Quaternary. Vasa parrots are unusual psittacids with distinctive reproductive biology including polyandrous mating. Their subfossil record contributes to understanding avifaunal changes in Madagascar through the Holocene.
