Pachydyptes simpsoni is an extinct Eocene giant penguin from Australia. Like P. ponderosus, it was among the largest penguins of the Eocene warm period, and both species document the early evolution of giant penguins in Australasia.

Pachydyptes simpsoni was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
