This small carnivorous shorebird represents an early record of vanelline lapwings in South America and contributes to understanding the Cenozoic radiation of charadriiform birds along the Pacific coast. Modern lapwings (Vanellus) are a highly diverse group globally.
Diet & Feeding
Belonopterus edmondi was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
