A nectarivore and occasional insect-feeder, it exploited the island's unique flora. The species is named after Robert Balfour, a collector associated with early Socotran surveys. Its extinction likely resulted from introduced goats overgrazing endemic plant communities.
Diet & Feeding
Chalcomitra balfouri was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
