†Dinornithiformes is the extinct order of moas, comprising nine species in six genera, all endemic to New Zealand. These tall flightless ratites ranged from the dwarf Anomalopteryx to the towering Dinornis. Lacking any natural terrestrial predators, moas evolved without flight and were rapidly extirpated following human arrival in the 13th century CE.
Diet & Feeding
Dinornithiformes was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
