Tyto balearica is an extinct barn owl from Pleistocene cave deposits of the Balearic Islands, Spain, significantly larger than the living barn owl. Its large size may reflect insular evolution in the absence of larger mammalian predators on the islands.
Diet & Feeding
Tyto balearica was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
