Edmontosaurus annectens

Edmontosaurus annectens

† Edmontosaurus annectens is a large saurolophine hadrosaur from the Late Cretaceous (Maastrichtian) Lance Formation of Wyoming and Hell Creek Formation, USA. Reaching up to 13 m and 4 tonnes, it was one of the last and largest hadrosaurs before the end-Cretaceous extinction. A herding herbivore, it fed on conifers, angiosperms, and ferns using its hundreds of tightly packed dental battery teeth. A 'mummy' specimen preserves dried skin with a pebbled texture and possible soft-tissue head crest.
