Agelaius tricolor

Agelaius tricolor, the Tricolored Blackbird, is a living colonial nesting bird of California and northern Baja California. About 19-24cm long, males are striking black with red-and-white shoulder patches. Once numbering millions, the species has declined dramatically due to agricultural habitat loss. It is the most colonial landbird in North America, nesting in huge mixed flocks.
