Anas georgica, the Yellow-billed Pintail, is a living dabbling duck of South America and South Georgia. About 43-55cm long, it inhabits freshwater lakes, marshes, and tundra from the Andes to Tierra del Fuego. The South Georgia subspecies (A. g. georgica) is an island form. Fossil records from South America document the Pleistocene history of this pintail lineage in the Southern Cone.
Diet & Feeding
Anas georgica was a plant-eating dinosaur. Herbivores typically fed on ferns, cycads, conifers, and other vegetation available during their era. Many herbivorous dinosaurs developed specialized teeth and digestive systems for processing tough plant material.
