<dinofyi-dinosaur slug="archaehierax-sylvestris"></dinofyi-dinosaur>†Archaehierax sylvestris was an extinct giant eagle from Oligocene Australia, one of the largest raptors of its time. A powerful aerial predator with a wingspan estimated around 140cm, it hunted large terrestrial prey in ancient Eocene–Oligocene Australian forests. Described in 2021 from the Namba Formation of South Australia, it was the apex avian predator of Oligocene Australia.
Diet & Feeding
Archaehierax sylvestris was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
