† Palaelodus ambiguus was an extinct flamingo-like wading bird (Palaelodidae) from Argentina. A carnivorous filter feeder, it inhabited Miocene South American wetlands. Its slender legs and specialized bill suggest feeding strategies intermediate between modern flamingos and stilts.
