† Palaelodus aotearoa was an extinct wading bird of the family Palaelodidae from New Zealand. A filter-feeding carnivore inhabiting Miocene freshwater and coastal environments, its New Zealand distribution documents the wide Gondwanan dispersal of early flamingo relatives.
