† Pandionidae (fossil) represents the family-level fossil record of ospreys from the United States. These piscivorous raptors were specialized fish-hunters with reversible outer toes and dense plumage. Fossil pandionids document the long evolutionary history of this cosmopolitan raptor group.
Diet & Feeding
Pandionidae was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
