† Pleistorallus flemingi was an extinct rail (Rallidae) from New Zealand. A omnivorous wetland bird, it inhabited Cenozoic freshwater marshes, reed beds, and estuarine environments. Rails are among the most widespread of waterbird families with a rich fossil record.
