Tonsalinae is an extinct avian subfamily containing Tonsala and related taxa from the Miocene of the United States. This extinct lineage represents one of many bird groups that diversified during the Neogene and have no living descendants.

Tonsalinae was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
