Tringa ameghini is an extinct sandpiper from the Miocene of Peru, named for paleontologist Florentino Ameghino. Fossil sandpipers from South American Neogene deposits illuminate the evolutionary history of the cosmopolitan sandpiper family Scolopacidae.

Tringa ameghini was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
