Australotadorna alecwilsoni is an extinct shelduck from Miocene or Pliocene deposits of Australia. This herbivorous waterfowl represents early diversification of the tribe Tadornini in Australasia and provides a Neogene fossil anchor for understanding the evolutionary history of Australian anatid ducks and their relationship to living shelducks and sheldgeese.
Diet & Feeding
Australotadorna alecwilsoni was a plant-eating dinosaur. Herbivores typically fed on ferns, cycads, conifers, and other vegetation available during their era. Many herbivorous dinosaurs developed specialized teeth and digestive systems for processing tough plant material.
