† Bucephala ossivallis is an extinct species of goldeneye duck from the Pleistocene of the United States, belonging to the diving duck genus Bucephala within the family Anatidae. Distinguished from living goldeneyes by subtle osteological differences, it inhabited freshwater lakes and rivers where it dived for aquatic vegetation and invertebrates. Its fossils provide important data on Bucephala diversity during the Pleistocene of North America.
Diet & Feeding
Bucephala ossivallis was a plant-eating dinosaur. Herbivores typically fed on ferns, cycads, conifers, and other vegetation available during their era. Many herbivorous dinosaurs developed specialized teeth and digestive systems for processing tough plant material.
