Coelurosaurichnus

Coelurosaurichnus

An ichnogenus (trace fossil) representing tridactyl footprints of small coelurosaur-grade dinosauromorphs, Coelurosaurichnus is known from Middle Triassic strata of France. These tracks predate many body fossil dinosaurs and provide early evidence of bipedal, narrow-gauge theropod-like locomotion in European Triassic ecosystems.

Time Period

Triassic Middle Mesozoic Era

Coelurosaurichnus lived during the Triassic Middle period of the Mesozoic Era, approximately 247.2 to 237.0 million years ago.

The middle Triassic saw the continued recovery of life and the emergence of early dinosauriforms. Archosaurs diversified into the ancestors of both dinosaurs and crocodilians.
