Eoabelisaurus mefi

† Eoabelisaurus mefi — a Middle Jurassic abelisaurid ceratosaur from Patagonia, Argentina. One of the earliest known abelisaurids, extending the family's record back to ~170 Ma. Medium-sized carnivore with reduced forelimbs characteristic of the lineage. Described from the Cañadón Asfalto Formation.

Eoabelisaurus mefi was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
