†Andrewsornis was a phorusrhacid terror bird from the Eocene of Argentina, representing an early member of the cursorial carnivore lineage. A flightless, ground-dwelling predator, it possessed a large raptorial beak adapted for seizing prey. Its discovery contributed to understanding the early diversification of phorusrhacids following the end-Cretaceous extinction.
Diet & Feeding
Andrewsornis was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
