Awengkere magnanatis is an extinct large bird from Pleistocene or Holocene deposits of Australia. This herbivorous megapode or ratite relative represents part of the extinct Australian megafauna and is known from fragmentary skeletal remains. It provides evidence for the diverse community of large birds that inhabited the Australian continent before human colonization.
Diet & Feeding
Awengkere magnanatis was a plant-eating dinosaur. Herbivores typically fed on ferns, cycads, conifers, and other vegetation available during their era. Many herbivorous dinosaurs developed specialized teeth and digestive systems for processing tough plant material.
