Bathornis grallator is an extinct cariamiform bird from Eocene or Oligocene deposits of the United States. This small carnivorous runner, named for its stilt-like proportions (grallator = one who walks on stilts), possessed long hindlimbs suited for pursuing small prey across the open plains of Paleogene North America alongside early perissodactyls and artiodactyls.
