Belonopterus edmondi

Belonopterus edmondi is an extinct lapwing-like charadriiform bird from Neogene deposits of Peru. This small carnivorous shorebird represents an early record of vanelline lapwings in South America and contributes to understanding the Cenozoic radiation of charadriiform birds along the Pacific coast. Modern lapwings (Vanellus) are a highly diverse group globally.
