Diangallus

Diangallus

†Diangallus is an extinct galliform bird from Cenozoic deposits of Yunnan Province, China. Closely related to peafowl and pheasants (Phasianidae), this ground-dwelling bird inhabited forest understories of ancient East Asia. Its fossils illuminate the evolutionary radiation of galliform birds within the extraordinarily diverse avifauna of Cenozoic Asia.
