†Dorypaltus prophatus is the type species of Dorypaltus, an extinct raptorial bird from Cenozoic North America. This carnivore is known from isolated limb bones that suggest active pursuit predation. It forms part of the early Cenozoic avian predator guild that diversified in North America following the Cretaceous-Paleogene mass extinction.
