† Emeidae — an extinct family of ratite birds (moa) endemic to New Zealand. Members were large flightless herbivores with massive hindlimbs and vestigial forelimbs. Multiple genera existed across both main islands until Polynesian settlement caused rapid extinction by the 15th century CE.
Diet & Feeding
Emeidae was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
