† Fulica armillata — the red-gartered coot, a South American coot from Argentine and Chilean wetlands. Aquatic herbivore; feeds on aquatic vegetation by diving and dabbling. Fossil records from Argentina supplement the modern range of this southern South American coot species.
Diet & Feeding
Fulica armillata was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
