† Palaeocryptonyx donnezani was an extinct pheasant relative (Galliformes) from the Miocene of Ukraine. A small ground-dwelling bird, it inhabited open Eurasian grassland and scrub habitats. Fossils document early diversification of Old World galliforms during the Neogene.
