Thick-knees are crepuscular and nocturnal wading birds with carnivorous diets consisting of insects, small vertebrates, and invertebrates. This extinct species inhabited open, arid or semi-arid environments, and its presence in North America indicates a formerly broader geographic range for the Burhinidae during the Pleistocene.
Diet & Feeding
Burhinus lucorum was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
