Confuciusornis dui

An Early Cretaceous confuciusornithid bird from the Jehol Biota of China, Confuciusornis dui is a species distinguished from the type species by subtle skeletal features. Like other members of the genus, it possessed a toothless beak, robust claws for perching and climbing, and a pygostyle. Its abundant fossil record illuminates Early Cretaceous avian ecology in northeast Asia.
