This carnivorous shorebird is related to the extant upland sandpiper (Bartramia longicauda) and represents an early member of the lineage in North America. Its fossils help establish the temporal and geographic range of this charadriiform group.
Diet & Feeding
Bartramia umatilla was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
