† Bumbanipodius magnus is an extinct large herbivorous bird from the Paleogene of Mongolia. The genus name references the Bumban fossil locality, while 'magnus' denotes its notable size relative to other birds recovered from the same deposits. It is thought to represent a large ground-dwelling or semi-arboreal herbivore of the early Cenozoic central Asian fauna, known from fragmentary skeletal material.
Diet & Feeding
Bumbanipodius magnus was a plant-eating dinosaur. Herbivores typically fed on ferns, cycads, conifers, and other vegetation available during their era. Many herbivorous dinosaurs developed specialized teeth and digestive systems for processing tough plant material.
