<dinofyi-dinosaur slug="cercibis-oxycerca"></dinofyi-dinosaur>Cercibis oxycerca is an extinct ibis (Threskiornithidae) known from Quaternary deposits in Venezuela. A large wading bird, it fed on invertebrates and small vertebrates probed from wetland substrates. Its sharply pointed tail feathers distinguish it from related genera. Fossil material was recovered from Pleistocene cave sediments in South America.
Diet & Feeding
Cercibis oxycerca was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
