†Dasornis toliapica is an extinct pelagornithid from Eocene deposits, named after the London Clay (Toliapian stage). This large carnivorous seabird possessed characteristic bony tooth-like projections lining its jaws, used for securing fish. It represents one of the classic species in the history of vertebrate paleontology in Britain.
Diet & Feeding
Dasornis toliapica was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
