†Diatropornis is an extinct large carnivorous bird from the Eocene of France, tentatively assigned to gastornithiform or phorusrhacoid-grade lineages. Known from fragmentary tarsometatarsal material, this flightless predator occupied a dominant predator niche in early Paleogene European ecosystems. Its exact taxonomic affinities await resolution from additional fossil material.

Diatropornis was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
