†Dynamopterus gaillardi is an extinct pelagornithid or large seabird from Eocene–Oligocene deposits of France. Named after its describer, this carnivorous soaring bird hunted fish over ancient European seas. Its French occurrence adds to the record of giant bony-toothed birds that dominated oceanic skies during the Paleogene across the former Tethys region.
Diet & Feeding
Dynamopterus gaillardi was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
