† Eogruidae — an extinct family of Eocene proto-cranes from North America. Medium-sized terrestrial or wading birds. Ancestral to or closely related to modern cranes (Gruidae). Known from Eocene deposits; represents an early stage in gruiform evolution before the modern crane radiation.

Carnivore

Eogruidae was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
