† Eostrix gulottai — an extinct Eocene owl from North America. Small nocturnal predator; carnivorous hunter of small vertebrates and invertebrates. Represents early Strigidae (true owls) diversification in North America. Known from Eocene deposits of the western United States.
Diet & Feeding
Eostrix gulottai was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
