† Ereunetes rayi — an extinct sandpiper (Scolopacidae) from Pleistocene deposits of North America. Small shorebird; closely related to extant Ereunetes sandpipers (now Calidris). Carnivorous invertebrate forager on intertidal mudflats. Known from Pleistocene deposits of the eastern United States.
Diet & Feeding
Ereunetes rayi was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
