† Erythromachus leguati — an extinct flightless rail from Rodrigues Island, Mauritius. Large carnivorous island bird; closely related to the extant purple swamphen. Named after explorer François Leguat who documented the species ~1690 CE. Went extinct due to human hunting and habitat destruction.
