† Gallirallus ripleyi — an extinct rail from an unspecified location. Named for ornithologist S. Dillon Ripley. Flightless omnivore; part of the diverse but now largely extinct Gallirallus radiation of Pacific islands. Became extinct following human settlement in its native range.
Diet & Feeding
Gallirallus ripleyi was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
