This carnivorous hawk-like bird inhabited North American ecosystems during the Cenozoic. Known from fragmentary skeletal remains, it represents an early member of the hawk-eagle lineage.
Diet & Feeding
Palaeastur atavus was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
