Anchisaurus polyzelus

†Anchisaurus polyzelus is the type species of Anchisaurus, a basal sauropodomorph from the Early Jurassic of Connecticut and Massachusetts, United States. Measuring roughly 2m in length, this slender herbivore or omnivore had leaf-shaped teeth and a long neck. Originally described as a human bone in 1818, it was redescribed as a dinosaur in 1885 by Marsh.

Anchisaurus polyzelus lived during the Jurassic Early period of the Mesozoic Era, approximately 201,4 to 174,7 million years ago.

After the Triassic-Jurassic extinction, dinosaurs rapidly diversified and became the dominant land vertebrates. Early sauropods and theropods began to evolve larger body sizes.
