An extinct bird from Patagonia, Argentina, Cladornis pachypus is known from Eocene fossil deposits and represents an early carnivorous avian of uncertain affinities. With robust foot bones implied by its epithet ('thick-footed'), it may have been a ground-dwelling predator, contributing to the diverse Paleogene avifauna of South America.
Diet & Feeding
Cladornis pachypus was a meat-eating predator. Carnivorous dinosaurs were active hunters or scavengers, equipped with sharp teeth and claws for catching and consuming prey. They occupied the top of the food chain in their ecosystems.
