Coelophysoidea

Coelophysoidea

† Coelophysoidea is a superfamily of early carnivorous theropod dinosaurs encompassing coelophysids and related taxa from the Late Triassic through Middle Jurassic. These lightly built, cursorial predators with slender heads and hollow bones represent the dominant small-to-medium theropods in the early Mesozoic, with Chinese members highlighting their pan-Pangaean distribution.

Diet & Feeding

Carnivore

Time Period

Jurassic Middle Mesozoic Era

Coelophysoidea lived during the Jurassic Middle period of the Mesozoic Era, approximately 174,7 to 161,5 million years ago.

Dinosaur diversity continued to increase, with the evolution of large sauropods and diverse theropods. Stegosaurs first appeared, and the supercontinent Pangaea was breaking apart.
